The University's prestigious School of Management was renamed the "Curtis L. Today the school is one of the country's leading business schools with state-of-the-art tele-teaching rooms, wireless computer connectivity and an extensive corporate learning center.

Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, Distinguished Carlson Lecture Series
Carlson chaired the drive to raise $12 million to financially launch the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, which opened in early 1986 at the university. Ten years earlier, the company gave a $1 million gift to sponsor a world-class lecture series at the institute. Known as the Distinguished Carlson Lecture Series, the program features internationally known political and social leaders.

University of Minnesota Tourism Center
Carlson was also responsible for the effort to raise $1 million to support Minnesota tourism education and research through the Tourism Center at the university. Dollars contributed by Carlson were matched by numerous tourism entities in Minnesota, illustrating the support for both Carlson and the tourism industry. The Carlson Endowment supports tourism educational programs and research that strengthen tourism in Minnesota.
