Radisson Blu Hotel Nantes a European Hospitality Award Winner

The Radisson Blu Hotel, Nantes in France has been recognised as the Opening of the Year 2013 (Renovation or Conversion) at the European Hospitality Awards 2013. The hotel beat off strong competition from some of the world’s best new hotels to take the top spot in one of the most contested categories. The hotel’s general manager, Cyril Casabo, was on hand to accept the award at the prestigious ceremony held in London.

“I’m so proud to see the opening of the Radisson Blu Nantes recognised by the European Hospitality Awards, it is truly an honour to accept this award on behalf of the hotel and my team,” said Cyril Casabo, general manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nantes.

Now in its fourth year, The European Hospitality Awards recognise outstanding contributions to the hotel industry across a number of key elements of the business. The category of Opening of the Year (Renovation of Conversion) encompasses interior design, building use and creative use of space. The judging panel felt that the conversion of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nantes, housed in the former Palais de Justice – an elegant building that was constructed in 1851 and served as the Nantes Law Court until 2000 – ticked all of those boxes. The first class hotel’s design maintains many former features, and combines them with a contemporary style.

Architect Jacques Cholet (DTACC) and interior designer Jean-Philippe Nuel created a true jewel. Behind the classic facade, the 142 modern guest rooms feature brown tones and white furniture exclusively designed for the hotel, alongside decorative art iconographies that remind of masterpieces shown in museums of Nantes. 

In a second success for the hotel owned by AXA Real Estate, the main restaurant “L’Assise”, located in the former court room, was a finalist in the Restaurant of the Year Category.
