Rezidor announces the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kayseri, Turkey
Brussels | December 17, 2012
The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide and a member of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, announces the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kayseri in Turkey. The property featuring 240 rooms is scheduled to open in Q1 2014.
“This signing brings our portfolio in Turkey to 10 hotels with 2,200 rooms in operation and under development, and underlines the importance the growing Turkish market has for our group”, said Kurt Ritter, president and chief executive officer of Rezidor.
“As an extension of our 35 years long touristic experience in Istanbul, we now have decided to begin new investments for a major hotel in our home town Kayseri. We are proud that we were able to sign an agreement with such a prestigious and rapidly expanding group like Rezidor. We believe that this co-operation will be beneficial for both our companies”, added Suleyman Cetinsaya, president and chief executive officer of Doruk Inc., the owner of the hotel.
Kayseri is among Turkey’s ten largest cities with a population of 1 million inhabitants. It is an important economic hub, often referred to as one the “Anatolian tigers” due to continuous strong economic growth. The First Class and full service Radisson Blu hotel will enjoy a prime location in the city centre next to the newly developed Forum Kayseri shopping mall and the city’s financial district.
Kayseri has several industrial zones with companies specialising in machinery, food production, textiles, sugar refinery and cement production. The region also offers many cultural attractions, with Mount Erciyes being an important domestic recreational area. The local government is committed to further strengthen the economic and touristic development in the region and is pro-active in attracting new businesses and institutions. One of the recent additions includes a university for 30,000 students and 3,000 faculty members. The city further hosts about 20% of Turkey’s medical tourism and is in the process of launching a health campus project.
Located in a 20-story building with excellent visibility, the Radisson Blu hotel will feature 240 rooms with Radisson Blu signature services such as free high speed internet access, and 4 restaurant and bar outlets, including a rooftop restaurant & bar with spectacular views of Mount Erciyes. Guests will benefit from a health club with Turkish bath, sauna, several treatment rooms, fitness centre and swimming pool. In addition the hotel will comprise ca. 1,500m² meeting facilities including an 800m² ballroom to benefit from the strong demand for MICE activities in the city.
